Certifying Organisations

In Australia, organic certification is performed by several organisations that are accredited by the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) under the National Standard for 0rganic and Biodynamic Produce.

The organisations listed below are those Australian organisations empowered to certify produces as organic.

Australian Farmers' Markets Association: "AFMA was convened to form a framework for best-practice farmers' markets operators to exchange information, coordinate policy, and promote grower-centric farmers' markets across Australia."
Biological Farmers of Australia
: "The Organic Federation of Australia (OFA) was established in 1998 as the peak body for the organic industry in Australia."
Australian Certified Organic: "Australian Certified Organic (ACO) currently certifies about 55% of the Australian organic industry and we estimate the bud logo appears on about 70% of all certified organic product in Australia."
Bio-Dynamic Research Institute (Demeter): "...Once the required standard has been established, operators may apply to the ... Organic Growers of Australia: "The Organic Growers of Australia certification system is designed to be ethical, cost-effective, and we charge no levies on sales."
Tasmanian Organic-Dynamic Producers Inc.: "The Tasmanian Organic-Dynamic Producers Incorporated (T.O.P.) was formed in the early 1990's to respond to calls from the rural sector for a body to represent and support Tasmanian growers. T.O.P. has developed an accreditation program to assist farmers who wish to convert their farms through to full certification."
International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements: "Our goal is the worldwide adoption of ecologically, socially and economically sound systems that are based on the principles of Organic Agriculture."
